Snack Tray with Removable Magnetic Sports Pitch Inserts

I've seen a few bowls recently and all either require an AMS type system or are overly complicated and too specific. I wanted to make a version that had a removable inner piece so that it could be used across different sports and not just Football.

The pitch insert is held in place with 4 magnets and lifts out cleanly for swapping . The whole tray prints in a single colour with just one filament swap needed for the two-tone pitch — no AMS required.

Currently there are three inserts available:

  • Football (Soccer)
  • Baseball
  • Ice Hockey Rink

Please let me know in the comments which ones you'd like to see next!

If you need alternate magnet sizes please feel free to get in touch.

Print details:

  • Size: 200 × 250mm, 37.5mm tall
  • Filament: ~270g
  • Recommended settings: 0.2mm layers, 3 walls, 10% infill
  • Print time: ~6–7 hours
  • Supports: None required
  • Magnets needed: 8 × (8×2mm) neodymium disc magnets

To make your tray safe for snacks:

  • Use food-safe filament — look for filaments explicitly labelled food safe with FDA/EU-compliant additives.
  • Seal the surface — apply a food-safe epoxy resin to fill the layer lines completely. Two thin coats works better than one thick one. Let it cure fully before use — usually 24–72 hours.
  • Use liners — the simplest option. Place snacks in small paper cups, baking cases, or silicone liners inside each compartment. No coating needed, easy to swap out
