Description

Realistic 3D-Printable Baseball (Regulation Size)

Bring America's favorite pastime to your 3D printer with this beautifully shaped, life-sized baseball model. This design features a clean, high-resolution mesh optimized to create a smooth circular surface. It is an excellent project for sports fans, desk display pieces, or a fun DIY painting craft.

The model is meticulously scaled to match the physical dimensions of an official league baseball. Measuring right around 74 millimeters in diameter, it mirrors the exact volume and hand-feel of the real thing. Because it is perfectly spherical, it serves as a fantastic blank canvas for makers who want to customize their own sports memorabilia.

Model Specifications

  • Dimensions: $73.89\text{ mm} \times 73.78\text{ mm} \times 74.00\text{ mm}$ (Regulation size)
  • Total Volume: $211,140\text{ mm}^3$
  • Mesh Details: 3,248 triangles for a well-rounded geometry that slices quickly without slowing down your computer.

Slicer Settings & Print Details

The settings used in the preview images are finely tuned to balance pristine surface quality with efficient filament usage.

  • Printer Compatibility: Optimized for the Bambu Lab P1S and X1-Carbon using a 0.4mm nozzle.
  • Filament Profile: Bambu PLA Basic (approx. 33.30 grams total weight used).
  • Layer Height: 0.08mm Extra Fine. Using an extra-fine layer height is highly recommended because it minimizes the "stair-step" effect commonly seen on the top and bottom curves of printed spheres.
  • Infill: 5% Density using the Grid pattern. Because a baseball is a large solid shape, keeping the infill low prevents wasting plastic while keeping the model sturdy.
  • Print Time: 1 Hour and 45 Minutes (includes a 6-minute printer preparation and bed-leveling phase).

Important Maker Notes

Bed Adhesion: Because a perfect sphere only touches the build plate at one single point on the very bottom, bed adhesion is incredibly important. If you find the ball wobbles or detaches during printing, consider adding a Brim in the "Others" tab or using a tiny flat cut on the bottom of the model to give it more surface area on your Textured PEI plate.

Post-Processing & Painting: This model prints as a smooth sphere. To finish the look, you can use a fine-tip red permanent marker or acrylic paint to carefully follow the contours and sketch on the classic V-shaped stitching.
