If you like the design, I would appreciate a boost.
Robo Rally (Wiki article) is one of the most brilliant games I know. We enjoy playing it as a board game at home, but almost prefer playing it outdoors – Robo Rally Live, so to speak. Unfortunately, the original cards are not very weather-resistant, so years ago I printed some and put them in sleeves …
For the more robust version, the 3D Printer was now called upon:
- Material: PETG recommended … for outdoor use
- My print settings:
- Layer height 0.12 mm
- Infill 100%
- Infill pattern Rectilinear
- Colors:
- Start with Black (light colors might be too translucent)
- from layer 3 White (for the border and the number)
- From layer 5 Green (for the arrows, but can of course be any other nice color)
- There are always only cards of one type on a plate, so you can also simply print different colors for different movement types
- Other adjustments to the basic profile (0.12 Fine) of a Bambulab printer should not be necessary.
- Please make sure the print bed is really clean!!!
There are two sets:
Card dimensions: 57mm x 56mm x 0.72mm - this corresponds to the card size of current game sets
Card dimensions: 91mm x 66mm x 0.72mm - the larger cards for outdoor use
The larger cards correspond approximately to the size of a card sleeve for, for example, Magic cards.
If you want to scale the cards, be sure not to change the height, otherwise the color layers will no longer fit.
The card numbering corresponds to the numbering of the original cards.
Here is a quick guide for our Robo Rally Live setup:
- First, we draw a game board on the ground with chalk.
- Then a beer bench set is placed next to it for the programmers
- Then 2-person teams are formed - one programmer and one robot
- The programmer controls the robot from the edge of the playing field
- If a robot breaks down, it and its programmer switch places
- If a robot breaks down a second time, the team is eliminated
This is what the AI thinks it looks like ….

And this is what it often looks like in reality …

Here is a board with players … in the barrier-free version.

A chessboard already provides a rough shape here … that makes drawing easier …

I would be happy to see photos of game rounds in the comments.
