Recycle Filament Waste into Unique Coasters

Turn purge lines, failed prints, supports, and filament offcuts into durable, reusable coasters.

Simply soften your filament scraps with a heat gun or hair dryer, then compress them inside the mould. Every coaster is completely unique, with colourful patterns created by the random mix of recycled filament.

Available Sizes

Choose the version that best suits your needs:

  • 80mm Diameter – Ideal for smaller cups and saving filament.
  • 100mm Diameter – Perfect for mugs, glasses, and larger drinks.

Both versions produce a coaster approximately 5mm thick.

  • Vent holes in the plunger help release trapped air during compression
  • Slightly tapered mould for easier coaster removal
  • Push-out hole in the base for simple release after cooling
  • No supports required when printing

How to Use

Please read the safety notes below before use.

  1. Collect purge lines, supports, failed prints, or filament offcuts.
  2. Cut larger pieces into smaller sections so they pack into the mould more easily.
  3. (For H2D users) Break purge waste into smaller pieces, as it is denser than standard purge material.
  4. Fill the mould with a layer of filament scraps.
  5. Heat the filament using a heat gun or hair dryer until it softens.
  6. Insert the plunger and compress the softened plastic.
  7. Repeat the process, adding more material until the plunger lip contacts the base. This built-in stop automatically creates the correct coaster thickness.
  8. Allow the mould to cool completely.
  9. Push the finished coaster out through the hole in the base.

Your recycled coaster is now ready to use.

Print Recommendations

  • Material: PETG or other heat-resistant material (minimum recommended)
  • Layer Height: 0.2mm
  • Walls: 4
  • Infill: 25%
  • Supports: Not required

PLA is not recommended, as the mould is exposed to heat during use.

A light coating of oil or release agent can help with removal, although it is generally unnecessary thanks to the tapered mould design.

Safety

  • Use in a well-ventilated area.
  • Avoid inhaling fumes from heated plastics.
  • Do not overheat filament.
  • Keep children away during heating and compression.
  • Always use heat sources responsibly.

Printer Compatibility

A Bambu Lab A1 Mini print profile is included, allowing both versions to be printed on the smaller build plate.
