Description

RealSense D435 / D435i Over-Monitor Top-Down Mount

A monitor top-mount that positions an Intel RealSense D435 or D435i camera directly above your desk, giving you a clean overhead view of your workspace.

I built this primarily for use as an overhead camera in a LeRobot SO-ARM101 setup, as the top-down angle is ideal for capturing the full arm workspace for teleoperation and data collection. It should suit any similar use case where you need a fixed overhead camera without a separate stand eating up desk space.

The design is adapted from this model by @torben_j, used with his permission.

Hardware Required

  • 1x M5x16mm bolt + M5 nut: camera mount hinge
  • 1x M3x35mm bolt + M3 nut: counterweight hinge
  • 2x M3x6mm bolts: camera attachment

Print Settings

Printed in BambuLab PLA Tough+. A stiff, low-flex material is recommended given the cantilevered load and hinge stress points.

Counterweight

I filled the counterweight cavity with M3 nuts to balance the arm against the monitor. You may prefer to use something like sand, or to adjust the fill amount depending on your monitor's thickness and clamping resistance. Start light and add until the mount sits stable.
