Description

This small junction box is designed to be compatible with 6 mm² terminal blocks and is suitable only for unearthed wires. The lid features built-in strain relief, providing compression to the wires to prevent them from being pulled out.

Warning ⚠️: Do not attempt to connect wires to a high-demand appliance, as overheating can occur and could cause a fire. Ideally, use appliances that are rated below 500 W.

For the build, I used the following products:

  • M3×6 Self-Tapping Screws: [Link]
  • 6 mm² Terminal Block: [Link]

Instructions:

  1. Cut one of the terminal block from the set

  2. Trim the access with a side cutter

  3. Place the terminal block inside the 3D printed container

  4. Once this is done, repeat the previous steps for the second terminal block. Next, insert the wires through the holes. When trimming the wires, ensure you leave a small portion of the outer sleeve intact so the lid's strain relief can grip it securely. There is roughly 3mm of clearance and should be compatible with most unearthed wires

  5. Last step! close the lid with the M3*6 screws and you are done

Let me know down the comments if for example the strain relief is too narrow or too wide. In this example one wire is larger than the other by a few micro meters.
