Description

I believe this holster fits all common brands of bear spray. It fits bear spray bottles with the following head dimensions:

  • Inner width -> 25-26mm (~1 Inch)
Inner width -> 25-26mm (~1 Inch)

  • Upper "wing" width -> 35-36mm (~1.4 inch)

    Upper "wing" width -> 35-36mm (~1.4 inch)

Right and Left handed versions

I have included right and left handed versions of each holster. This is so that you can easily draw the spray with your dominant hand and be ready at a moment's notice.

Clip-on Version

The clip-on variant can be printed and used with no extra parts required.

Simply:

  • print the version for the desired draw-hand (right or left)
  • Clip it onto the opposite strap of your backpack (left strap for right-hand draw and vice versa)
  • The clip is designed to go around your crest strap to ensure the spray stays in place while leaving the clip accessible

Sizing

The clip-on version is compatible with backpack straps up to 8-9mm (~⅓ inch) thick and 70mm (~2.75 inch) wide. It can fit over chest straps that are up to 30mm (~1.2 inch) wide.

Lash-on Version

The lash-on version has 6 holes around the outside that you can thread p-cord or elastic through in order to lash the holster onto whatever you like. This is actually my preferred version, just because it allows you to have less material between your shoulder and the backpack strap, making it a bit more comfortable to wear for long periods.

Materials

The photos and this profile are basic PLA, but you may want to consider PETG, ABS, or other materials for prolonged outdoor use. The PLA seems plenty strong and durable enough for casual use though.

Disclaimer

Use this item at your own risk. Bears are dangerous, bear country is dangerous, and this item WILL NOT keep you safe on its own. The holster holds the spray securely, but it can still be jostled out of place with excessive movement, so an extra loop of elastic around the bottom can be a good idea if you have one. Be careful out there!
