GoPro GPS Signal Arm Extender
Print Profile(1)

Description
Have you ever mounted your GoPro upside down using a low-profile adhesive mount only to discover later that your GPS data was unreliable or missing?
That happened to me during a track day when I wanted to overlay telemetry data such as speed, GPS position, G-forces, and track maps onto my video. The low-profile mounting location worked great for the camera, but the upside-down orientation didn't provide the GPS performance I was looking for.
Rather than mounting the camera higher on the windshield where it would be more visible and distracting, I designed this simple extension arm that relocates the GoPro and allows it to be mounted upright while still using the factory-style adhesive mount location.
Since switching to this design, I've had excellent GPS reception and reliable telemetry data for my track videos.
Features:
- Converts an upside-down GoPro mounting position to an upright orientation
- Improves visibility of the GoPro's GPS antenna to the sky
- Low-profile design keeps the camera tucked near the windshield
- Compact and lightweight
- Easily scalable in your slicer to suit your application
- Designed in TinkerCAD and tested during HPDE track events
Approximate dimensions:
- 20mm wide x 25 mm x 25 mm x 90 mm
If you'd like to modify the design, I'm happy to share the TinkerCAD file. If you make improvements or remixes, please give credit and consider leaving a Boost!
Happy printing and see you at the track.
