A simple yet eye-catching display that creates the illusion of a floating cross using magnets and a nearly invisible fishing line.

The cross is suspended beneath the arm by magnetic attraction, while a thin fishing line keeps it perfectly positioned, creating a clean levitation effect from normal viewing distances.

This project is easy to print, simple to assemble, and makes a unique decoration for a desk, shelf, nightstand, or prayer space.

Features:

  • Floating levitation illusion
  • Magnetic suspension system
  • Nearly invisible fishing line
  • Easy assembly
  • Replaceable fishing line
  • No electronics required
  • Minimalist modern design

Required Materials:

Option 1:

  • 2 × 10×10 mm magnets

Option 2:

  • 6 × 10×3 mm magnets
  • 3 for the arm
  • 3 for the cross

For Both Versions:

  • Fishing line (0.15–0.30 mm recommended)
  • Super glue

Included Parts:

  • Base
  • Arm
  • Cross
  • Line Anchor

Assembly Instructions:

  1. Apply super glue and attach the arm to the base.
  2. Glue 1×10×10 mm magnet (or 3×10×3 mm magnets) into the arm.
  3. Glue the remaining magnet(s) into the cross, making sure they attract the magnets installed in the arm.
  4. Thread the fishing line through the bottom of the cross and tie at least two knots.
  5. Feed the other end of the fishing line through the hole in the base and adjust the length until the cross appears to float with a visible gap.
  6. Thread the line through the anchor piece, tie at least two knots, and insert the anchor into the bottom of the base.
  7. Trim the excess fishing line and enjoy your Floating Cross.

⚠️ Important

Always test magnet polarity before gluing. The magnets in the arm and cross must attract each other.
