Backstory

Ora is one of mathematical artist Bathsheba's most famous metal 3D printed sculptures, known for its minimalist form and rich symmetry within the series.

I wanted to get one to play with, but it's already discontinued on the official website (and super expensive), and I couldn't find CAD models anywhere online. So I modeled it myself and successfully recreated this sculpture! Now you can admire its beautiful structure at home.

Assembly Method

Print twelve plastic components. (The uploaded file includes two extra for spares.) Each triangle is composed of three components. Assemble three components with the same pattern together, then apply a drop or two of 502 super glue to each corner for fixation.

The currently uploaded assembly model is still experimental; the connections between components are a bit difficult to assemble. For some parts that couldn't be assembled, I used pliers to snip off some protrusions before gluing them. A glue-free version is currently under development...
