Dust cover hinge clip for Technics SL-1600 mk2 etc
Print Profile(1)

Description
The dust cover clips (SFUM170-07 hinge assembly) on vintage Technics turntables tend to break over time. They were gone on the SL-1600 mk2 that I got third hand. Since I didn't have the originals, this is not a 1:1 copy but a design that looks similar enough while being a bit heftier without looking out of place.
While I have not tested it, this design should also fit some vintage versions of the SL-1700. I'm not sure about the SL-1200, SL-1300, SL-1400, SL-1500, SL-1800, and SL-1900. Note that some other tables such as the popular SL-1200 had several designs for the clip. The key for this design to work is that the piece going into the clip has to be a flat plate but for thin lips on the side and the spring holder to the side (see images). If your record player has a dust cover hinge with a square-ish pin, this clip won't fit.
Both hinge clips are identical (no left / right).
Printing:
- I used Bambulabs ABS-GF and printed solid. I'd try PETG over PLA if ABS is not available.
- I printed without supports but with one raft layer on the small side to have layer lines go vertical when installed. If you have issues with adhesion, try two layers.
- Delete one of the clips if you only have one broken.
Installation:
- open and remove dust cover and old clips
- if you still have the original screws (XTN3+8JFZ), I would think they fit into this design. If not, I used Makerworld BT2.6x8 SHCS.
- screw in but don't overtighten the screws
- install dust cover, close cover. it should leave a 1-2mm gap between the lid and turn table top.
