IKEA Cam Lock Cap Cover (0.5 gram)

IKEA cam lock nuts are great for strong, simple assembly, but not so great when they’re left exposed. Most IKEA cabinets and modules use these cams, and depending on the specific cabinet or panel thickness, the cam can end up in one of three final positions:

• Recessed (sitting slightly below the surface)
• Flush (perfectly level with the surface)
• Protruding (sticking out a little)

To cover all cases cleanly, I designed three snap‑fit cam cap variants, each tuned for one of these positions. They install in seconds ; just press them in with your fingers and they lock into place. No tools needed.

Each cap uses only 0.5g of filament and prints in 1 minute 42 seconds on a Bambu printer. They’re tiny, fast, and extremely effective.
 

 Installation Procedure

This project started when we finished our IKEA kitchen. We loved everything about it, except the exposed cam on the bottom of the cabinets. You’d only notice it if you were very short or crouching, but once you see it, it’s impossible to ignore. 

With a white kitchen, printing these in Bambu White Matte PLA gave a perfect color match. Now the cams are invisible, and the cabinets look like they came that way from the factory.
