Description

If you have a multi-tier window setup on your balcony where only the top part opens, you probably know the issue. When you tilt the top window open for some fresh air, the long day-night blind hangs straight down, moves away from the glass, lets the sun in, and constantly bangs against the frame in the wind.

This simple 3D-printable latch solves that exact problem. It works like a small window handle that holds your blinds close to the frame when needed, and rotates out of the way when you want to roll them up.

🧩 How it Works

The model consists of two parts:

  • Mounting Base: A tiny cylinder on a thin plate that attaches to your lower window frame with regular double-sided tape (no drilling required). It has 4 internal notches.
  • 15cm Lever: A flat bar with split cylindrical "petals" on one end. It snaps right into the base, creating a simple ratchet mechanism that clicks and holds in 4 directions.

šŸ“ Technical Details

  • Lever Size: 150 mm long, 24 mm wide, 5 mm thick.
  • Blind Clearance: The lever holds the blinds about 4 cm away from the glass. It’s not perfectly flush, but it keeps them securely pressed and completely stops them from flapping.
  • Setup: Print two of these and mount them on both sides of your lower window frame.

šŸ› ļø Usage Instructions

  1. Clean the window frame and stick the bases near the top edge of the lower window.
  2. Snap the levers in and turn them vertically down.
  3. Roll your blinds all the way down and open your top window.
  4. Just push the blind slightly toward the frame and flip the levers horizontally to lock them. Turn them back down to release.
