Description

Description

This 3D model is an assistive pen grip designed for individuals with hand paralysis, weak grip strength, or those who find it difficult to hold a pen conventionally.

By physically thickening the pen barrel and utilizing an optimized shape, this grip allows users to hold the pen stably. This significantly reduces the physical strain and fatigue associated with writing.

Features

  • Secure Fixing via Dedicated Design: Some models are designed to be clamped between the front and back sections (threaded parts) of a disassembled pen (please refer to the disassembly image). This completely eliminates the risk of the grip slipping during use.
  • Anti-Wobble Recess Design: By resting your fingers in the recessed slit (opening) of the body, even those who struggle with a standard grip can hold it firmly. This effectively minimizes pen tip wobble while writing.
  • Quick & Easy Printing: Basically, no supports are required. It is highly cost-effective and prints quickly in approximately 40 minutes, using about 6g of filament.

Model Variations

We offer six model variations (Type A to Type F) to suit your specific needs, categorized into "Dedicated Models" and "Universal Models."

  • Dedicated Models (Type A, Type B, Type C):

These models are designed to be securely fixed at the pen joint. They are specifically tailored for widely used pens such as the FRIXION pen and SARASA.

  • Universal Models (Type D, Type E, Type F):

These models do not have a fixed position. Use these if you wish to use a pen other than the dedicated ones, or if you want to freely adjust and fine-tune the grip position to your preference.

How to Assemble / Use

[For Dedicated Models (Type A~C)]

  1. Twist the pen body to disassemble it into front and back sections.
  2. Slide the front section (pen tip side) through the hole of the printed grip.
  3. Reattach the back section and tighten the threads securely to lock the grip in place.

[For Universal Models (Type D~F)]

  1. Slide the grip onto the pen from the tip side.
  2. Hold the pen to adjust the grip to your most comfortable writing position.
  3. Once the position is determined, secure the grip to the pen barrel using tape or a similar method so it does not move during use.

Recommended Print Settings

As shown in the slicer image, we recommend printing the model in a vertical, upright position.

  • Orientation: Vertical (Upright)
  • Adhesion: Brim Highly Recommended. Since the contact area with the build plate is small, be sure to add a brim to prevent the model from falling over during printing.
  • Infill: 10% - 20%
  • Print Time / Weight: Approx. 35-50 minutes / Approx. 6g

⚠️ Printing Notes (Bridging and Supports)

While designed to be printed without supports (None) in principle, the top of the slit requires bridging (printing in mid-air).

Depending on your printer's cooling performance or the type of filament used, this section may sag or the print might fail.

  • Solution 1: If you are not confident in your printer's bridging capabilities or want to ensure a perfect finish, please add supports (such as Tree Supports) only to the slit area.
  • Solution 2: If printing without supports, please ensure your slicer's bridge settings (e.g., slowing down print speed, increasing cooling fan speed) are configured properly.
