MagTetra – Magnetic Tetrapod Puzzle Toy

MagTetra is a magnetic tetrapod puzzle toy made of four separate legs. Each connection surface contains magnets, and the polarity of the magnets determines whether the parts attract or repel each other.

To assemble the tetrapod shape, you must find the correct matching legs and orientations. The result is a simple magnetic puzzle that is also fun to fidget with.
 

Required other than printed parts:

• 12 × magnets (sized to fit the magnet slots)

Assembly:

Press-fit the magnets into the four printed legs according to the polarity shown in the diagram below. If necessary, use adhesive to secure the magnets.

It is recommended to install magnets of the same polarity into all four legs before switching to the opposite polarity. If the polarity is installed incorrectly, the parts will not assemble into the tetrapod shape.


 

Notes:

• 6 mm magnets will work perfectly well, but the magnetic attraction feels less noticeable when the parts connect. 8 mm or 10 mm magnets are recommended for a more satisfying snap.
• A STEP file without magnet holes is also available for customization. You can scale it up for larger prints or modify the magnet pockets to fit different magnet sizes.

• MagTetra units built with different magnet sizes are still compatible with each other. Print plenty of them and have fun!
