Italo Calvino's 'Invisible Cities' lacks grand plot twists, but uses dozens of fictional, exquisite cities to articulate memory, desire, loneliness, and ideals. The world we see is merely a projection of our inner selves; all imagined distant places, regrets, and expectations are hidden within these invisible cities.
Inspired by Calvino's classic 'Invisible Cities', the outline of Venice's water city is extracted and transformed into a bookmark silhouette, utilizing a double-sided overlapping structure.
When laid flat, the two city silhouettes overlap, blending reality and illusion; when the bookmark is inserted into a page, the paper acts as a barrier, obscuring the back silhouette, and the originally hidden outline of Venice suddenly appears before your eyes.
