Hi, and welcome to my model page. To see this and many more guitar models like it, please come see mine and ML Innovations collection of guitar models and accesories using this link below: https://makerworld.com/en/collections/5352306-wallymocha-ml-innovation

Marty McFly Rockin' It 🎸⚡

Great Scott!

This display statue captures Marty McFly in a guitar-shredding pose inspired by one of the most memorable moments from Back to the Future. Standing approximately 16.5 inches (42 cm) tall when fully assembled, this model is designed as a detailed showcase piece for fans of the classic film trilogy.

The model features a removable magnetic arm system that allows the guitar to be installed or removed without risking damage to the figure. This feature was specifically designed to work with my companion guitar model, making assembly and display much easier.

Companion Guitar Model

This statue was designed to pair with my matching Marty's Gibson ES-345 Guitar model:

https://makerworld.com/en/models/2466356-back-to-the-future-marty-s-gibson-es-345-guitar#profileId-2709534

Print the guitar separately and use the removable arm feature to install it into Marty's hands for the complete display.

My idea after making the guitar that Marty played in the movie was to make a figure that would work as a guitar stand to display the model guitar in a fun and exciting way. I am working on finishing the stand for Marty. I will add the link to the stand when I am finished, here:

Print Profile

Print Time & Material Usage

The model is divided across four build plates:

  • Plate 1: ~20 hours
  • Plate 2: ~17 hours
  • Plate 3: ~3 hours
  • Plate 4: ~2 hours

Total print time: Approximately 42 hours

Total filament used: Approximately 550 g

Assembly Requirements

  • Two (2) 2 × 6 mm neodymium magnets
  • Super glue for assembly

The magnets are installed in the arm connection point, allowing the arm to be removed and reattached whenever the guitar needs to be inserted or removed.

Guitar Installation

To make guitar installation easier, Marty's left thumb is printed as a separate part. This allows the guitar neck to be positioned naturally in the hand without forcing or damaging the print.

Recommended Assembly Order

  1. Assemble and glue the main body sections.
  2. Install the two 2 × 6 mm neodymium magnets in the arm connection.
  3. Remove the magnetic arm.
  4. Position the guitar in Marty's hands.
  5. Glue the separate left thumb into place to secure the guitar.
  6. Reattach the arm using the magnetic connection.

This design allows the guitar to fit properly while maintaining a realistic grip and clean finished appearance.

Painting & Finishing

The example shown in the photos was:

  • Assembled using super glue
  • Painted with acrylic paint markers
  • Detailed using traditional brush painting techniques

The large scale and sculpted details make this model ideal for custom painting, shading, weathering, and display finishing.

Notes

  • Tree supports are recommended for best results.
  • Some support cleanup and sanding may be required before assembly.
  • The magnetic arm system was specifically designed to simplify guitar installation.
  • The separate thumb piece allows the guitar to be installed cleanly and securely.
  • Intended as a display piece for collectors and Back to the Future fans.

If you print and paint your own Marty, I'd love to see your finished build. Please post your makes and photos!

⚡ "You're just not thinking fourth dimensionally!"

Important Notes: This display statue was designed to pair with my Gibson ES-345 Guitar model (printed separately link in description). The print profile is intended for Bambu Studio. I used my 3D model of the guitar as a negative part in order to allow the guitar model to fit into the model or Marty as a cut out. Use outside of Bambustudio may vary and I have not tested the print outside of Bambustudio.

For best results. I recommend using a High Flow nozzle (I use 0.4mm HF). And a supertack cool build plate from Bambu or Biqu. These are what I recommend for best adhesion and best speed.

I have made a general video describing my many techniques of making these guitar models. I use mostly just super glue, flat file, sand paper and a select size of drill bits to build them. And I use 0.25mm fishing line to add the strings to the model. I go over this in fine detail, just follow the link below for more:
