Description

1/8 Scale Tire Glue Jig with Bearing

This is my version of a 1/8 scale tire glue jig. Unlike many other designs, this model uses a bearing to help keep the wheel centered while the top section is tightened. The bearing also prevents the wheel from snagging or shifting during use, making the gluing process more accurate and consistent.

Design Overview

The model consists of four printed parts:

  • Top section
  • Bottom section
  • Center disc part 1
  • Center disc part 2

The top and bottom parts can be printed using standard print settings. The threads have been designed to print cleanly without supports, making them easy to manufacture on most FDM printers.

The center disc is now a two-part design, making it much simpler to print. The two parts should screw together seamlessly if your printer is properly calibrated. I recommend adding a drop of super glue to the threads before screwing the two parts together. This will help prevent them from unscrewing while using the tire jig.

Bearing Requirements

This design is intended to use a Bambu Lab EA027 ball bearing (Model: B-EA027), which is a very common bearing size often found in skateboards, roller skates, scooters, and other hobby applications.

Bearing dimensions:

  • Inner diameter: 8 mm
  • Outer diameter: 22 mm
  • Width: 7 mm

If you do not already have one available, the bearing can be purchased directly from the Bambu Lab store.

Printing Information

Material selection is entirely up to the user. Most common filament types should work well, including:

  • PLA
  • PETG
  • ABS
  • ASA

The complete model uses approximately 250 g of filament.
