Description

A fully parametric reinforcement mount that locks a wobbly cat‑tree post to its platform. Designed in OpenSCAD, so you can dial in any post diameter, plate size, and base shape and export your own perfect fit — no remixing required.

If the posts on your cat tree have started to lean or rattle where they meet a shelf, this bracket fixes it: a snug collar grips the post, reinforcement petals brace it against the platform, and the base screws down solid.

Features

  • Fits any post — set the exact bore diameter for your tube/column (cardboard, PVC, wood, fabric‑wrapped).
  • Press‑fit grip — internal ribs taper toward the bottom, so the post wedges in tighter the deeper it goes. Often holds with no glue at all.
  • Round or square base — pick whichever suits your build.
  • Three reinforcement styles — flat triangular buttresses, smooth curved gussets, or short straight ribs.
  • Mounts down solid — countersunk screw holes sit flush with the surface.
  • Side fixing holes — chamfered radial holes let you drive a screw straight into the post for a permanent lock.
  • Corner & edge friendly — remove plate quadrants (3/4 or 2/4) to tuck the mount against a wall or right at the edge of a shelf, without the collar ever being cut.
  • Optional collar slots — for a hose clamp or zip‑tie if you want extra clamping force.
  • Prints support‑free — the geometry is designed to print base‑down with no supports.

Recommended Print Settings

  • Material: PETG recommended (tough, slightly flexible — great for press fits). PLA works also great, mine printed with PLA 2.0
  • Layer height: 0.2 mm
  • Walls / perimeters: 2 or more
  • Infill: 15+% (gyroid or grid)
  • Supports: None
  • Orientation: Flat on the base plate (as oriented in the 3mf)

Tips

  • For the press fit, start with about 0.4–0.6 mm rib grip. Increase if loose, decrease if it won't seat. PETG gives the most forgiving fit. If the post seats firmly, you can rely on the press fit alone and skip the side screws for fixing the tube entirely. But for the base plate screws recommended to reduce wobbling
  • Measure your post with calipers — fabric‑wrapped posts are often a few millimeters larger than the bare tube. And mine even has a different sizes on the each tube. So better measure all of them
  • Mounting near an edge or in a corner? Remove the quadrants that would overhang and screw the remaining plate to the solid part of the shelf.
