Ryuk Closed Wings - Death Note

This is a highly detailed collectible figure depicting the Shinigami (God of Death) Ryuk, one of the main characters from the famous manga and anime _Death Note_

Overview of Pose and Composition

The model features Ryuk in one of his characteristic crouching poses (a "gargoyle crouch") atop a stone pedestal. The figure is symmetrical in its general setup but rich in asymmetrical details in its accessories and hand gestures. The entire sculpture is characterized by dark, desaturated tones, ranging from dark gray to black, with very few targeted color accents

The Face and Head

• Expression: Features Ryuk's classic unsettling grotesque grin, with thin, stretched lips revealing a dense row of sharp, white teeth
• Eyes: They are the most striking chromatic element of the face, large, bulging, and an intense yellow/amber color with dilated black pupils, giving the character his iconic mad and curious (curious) gaze

The Body and Clothing

• Anatomy: Ryuk's body is extremely lean, almost skeletal, with long limbs and sharp, claw-like fingers. The musculature of the torso and legs is lean and defined by deep veins and folds in the grayish-blue/black skin
• Wings: Large, feathered predator wings are folded around the body (hence the filename _"Closed Wings"_). The plumage is rendered with extreme realism, showing every single fanned, overlapping feather, colored in dark gray with light highlights on the edges
• Collar and Shoulder Pads: Around the neck and shoulders are his typical deep black feathered/frayed decorations
• Belt and Accessories: Around his waist, he wears a thick, studded black leather belt with a large central silver buckle in the shape of a circled skull, to which a side metal chain is attached
• Hands and Jewelry:
  • The right hand (left for the viewer) is extended downwards, resting on the pedestal; on the wrist and fingers, he wears prominent silver rings and skull-shaped bracelets
  • The left hand is raised, simultaneously holding the open Death Note and a red apple, the only truly vivid and saturated color element in the entire composition
