Description

This project outlines the printing specifications for the flexible Foot Hooks (Flight Fins) from the modular fender assembly designed for heavy-duty, high-impact riding on a 60lb custom Onewheel / VESC build.

This project is based off Coded's work on Printables, and I will add any bolt sizes and links to them when I complete my X7.

Build Setup

  • Plater Details: Both fins are loaded onto the build plate, with one already mirrored to provide a matching left and right set for the board.

Required Hardware and Bolt Sizes

To safely anchor the printed TPU fins down so they do not tear out when pulling up the heavy board, you will need the following hardware:

  • Foot Hook Fasteners: M5 Screws and M5 Nuts.
  • Mounting Setup: The M5 nuts drop directly into the integrated hexagonal nut-trap cutouts modeled on the back of the matching fender plates. Ensure your M5 screws are long enough to pass entirely through the thick base of the TPU fin and the fender wall to fully catch the nut threads.

Slicing Settings for the TPU Flight Fins

To prevent these flexible parts from peeling their layers apart or tearing under sudden vertical loads, apply these heavy-duty mechanical settings in Bambu Studio:

  • Layer Height: 0.24mm Standard (Excellent sweet spot for a 0.6mm nozzle to ensure deep, molten layer fusion).
  • Wall Loops: 6 to 8 Walls (Crucial parameter; the structural rigidity of a flexible TPU part relies almost entirely on thick outer perimeters).
  • Sparse Infill Density: 40% to 50% Density.
  • Sparse Infill Pattern: Gyroid or Cross Hatch. (Using Gyroid provides perfectly uniform, omnidirectional strength to support twisting forces from your feet without creating nozzle cross-over collisions).
  • Top/Bottom Shells: Set to a minimum of 5 layers to prevent the mounting bolts from crushing or punching directly through the top surface.

Vital Bambu P1S Hardware Warning

  • No AMS: You cannot route flexible filament through the Bambu AMS unit.
  • Feeding: Disconnect your AMS feed line and feed the TPU manually from an external standalone spool holder (or a filament dry box) directly into the back toolhead buffer. Print TPU hot and slow for max layer adhesion.
