Fume extraction and exhaust system, specifically designed to integrate with the Chamber Exhaust Fan of Bambu Lab P2S and X2D.

If you are looking for a trivial waste container (poop chute), you can find thousands on MakerWorld. This project is different. It is designed for those who demand a definitive engineering solution: a totally sealed system that combines the waste chute and the exhaust grille into a single "Plenum".

Unlike classic open systems, which allow odors, microplastics, and fumes to disperse from the back of the printer, this airtight chamber forces the exhaust air to flow directly into the fan's filtration system. Zero leaks, maximum safety in a home environment.

📐 Main Features

  • Ducted and Forced Airflow: The waste container and the Plenum communicate via an engineered internal slit. The fan's suction creates negative pressure that draws fumes from the chute before they can escape.
  • Complete TPU Gasket Set: To ensure a watertight seal (Zero Leak) and eliminate any drafts, I designed and included a complete set of dedicated gaskets to be printed in TPU 95A.
  • Precision Mechanical Joints: It uses a dovetail system (Dovetail_Chute_Adapter) that ensures millimeter-level stability on the back of the printer.
  • Original Aesthetics: the bottom drawer is removable for discarding waste. It reproduces the Bambu Lab logo in bas-relief. It is designed to be printed in a single piece without supports

🛒 Required Components (BOM)

To complete the assembly you will need:

  • Screws for the Plenum (Prechamber): You need 6 cylindrical head screws with recessed hexagon. You can use BT2x5 (or M2x5) or BT2x6 (or M2x6) models.
  • Screws for the Dovetail Adapter: You need 2 BT3x8 screws. Practical tip: I directly used those from the arm where the external filament spool holder of the printer is mounted.
  • Flexible Filament: A small quantity of TPU 95A for printing the airtight gasket set.

🔧 Assembly Instructions (Step-by-Step)

1) Attaching the Plenum: screw the teeth to the prechamber, mount the gasket. Position the prechamber (Plenum) on the back of the printer.

2) Installing the Adapter: Insert the Dovetail_Chute_Adapter, locking it in place with the 2 BT3x8 screws (recoverable from the spool holder). Insert the elongated gasket onto the Plenum, and also onto the Adapter.

3) Installing Chamber Exhaust Fan: at this point, the chamber exhaust fan can already be mounted:

4) Assembling the Upper Chute: Slide the Waste_Container_up along the dovetail guides until it engages with the Plenum. There are two snap locks above and below the internal slot. When you slide the Waste_Container_up into the Plenum, they will firmly click into place with an audible 'click', ensuring a perfectly sealed and locked connection. (Practical tip: engage the lower one first, with your fingers from underneath, then the upper one)

5) Inserting the Waste Drawer: insert the TPU gasket onto the waste drawer. Subsequently, attach the bottom drawer with the logo (Waste_Container_down), positioning it under the chute. Note: the gaskets for the dovetail adapter and the waste drawer are identical.

6) Complete System: Now your system is sealed and ready to print all materials without plastic odor, microplastics, or volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

If the assembly was done correctly, the system should have these clearances:

💡 Maker's Tip: For a smooth and effortless coupling, it is recommended to apply a drop of sewing machine oil on the dovetail slides before sliding the components into place.

If you wish, you can pair it with my HEPA/Carbon Filters Bambu Lab P2S :

📝 Note on X2D Compatibility

The mod has been successfully tested on the X2D.

@friendly94 was the first beta tester for this machine, helping to validate the project for the entire community!
