Chess Set: Kingdom Realm of Rennie ~ Set of 16
Print Profile(1)

Description
Realm of Rennie: Chess Set ~ Full Set of 16
Most chess sets are pieces.
This one became people.
While designing the set, each figure slowly developed its own personality. The King became a ruler carrying the weight of a kingdom. The Queen arrived from a distant land to unite rival realms. The elder bishops seemed to know far more than they were willing to say. The knights looked ready to charge into danger, while the rooks stood watch on the horizon, waiting for trouble to appear.
Even the pawns refused to remain anonymous.
Before long, what began as a collection of chess pieces had quietly become a kingdom filled with stories.
Of course, none of that changes how the game is played.
Kings still fall.
Queens still dominate.
Knights still surprise everyone.
And pawns still dream of reaching the far side of the board.
But if you find yourself inventing adventures for the pieces while setting up a match, don't say you weren't warned.
Welcome to the realm.

A personal note from the designer:
While creating this set, I found myself doing something I had never done with previous chess projects.
Normally I choose a theme and design the pieces.
This time I designed the people.
As each figure developed, relationships began appearing between them. The King seemed burdened by responsibility. The Queen felt as though she came from somewhere else. Certain bishops appeared to agree on very little. Some knights looked ready to prove themselves, while others seemed more interested in protecting those around them.
Before long I stopped asking:
"What should this piece look like?"
and started asking:
"Who is this person?"
That question ultimately shaped the entire realm.
If you find yourself looking at two pieces sitting beside one another and wondering what they might be talking about, then the design succeeded.
The rest of their story is yours to imagine.
THE KINGDOM PLAYERS

The Pawns ~ Chosen members with extraordinary skills.

I hope you enjoy the chess set as much as I did, have, and now enjoy it.
Thanks for looking . .

Please note:
Because I’m retired and on a fixed income, I print these models at a smaller scale to save on filament. All of these models are printed at 70% - 80% of the model uploaded size.
♟️
Thank you! Thank you! To all of you who Boost my uploads. Because of YOU I can get my filament now from “Maker's Supply”, saving me from using real money.
♟️
These creations are made purely for the joy of sculpting and sharing. Printing at a reduced scale can sometimes affect the quality of fine details; printing at full or larger sizes will yield smoother, more refined results.
♟️
Also, as a 77-year-old maker with hands that sometimes have a mind of their own, I occasionally have to use a little hot-glue surgery to reattach delicate parts. Please handle models with care—especially thin necks, joints, and fragile connectors. Take a moment to study your model before removing supports… or you might find yourself reaching for the glue gun too! 🥲
