Description

My daughter and her friends love Caine. And although they liked my Bubble popcorn bowl, they needed a Caine version. Originally, I was going to make a popcorn bowl and have the popcorn sit in the lower jaw. But after working through some prototypes I decided to make something more unique for the movie that comes out today. This is a popcorn tub topper for the official popcorn tub you can get at the movie theaters. I have now tested the popcorn topper on the official Movie Theater TADC Popcorn Tub, I made a few adjustments that make it fit perfectly. The profile for this model now reflects those improvements.

Our movie theater didn't have the official cups, so if someone gets one of those, and cares enough to send me the dimensions of the top rim of the cup I can make something that works for that (the more specific you are the better I can make the fit).

A few notes:
- This is BIG, the popcorn tub is supposed to hold 170 oz of popcorn. I printed this on my H2D because of the two nozzles, but this version can be printed on most 250x250 printers without an issue (pretty much everything but the mini)
- I am designing the official cup version for all of those who want something like this, but simply can't print it. (If someone provides dimension details)
- If you printed it in a single color and paint it you would probably save a lot of time and filament.

- When I first printed the model it was difficult to fit the two ball joints in, I actually sanded down one of the ball joints to get it to work. My updated version should fix most of that, but you may still need a little pressure and sanding to slip it in.
- The model may be squeaky when opening and closing the jaw. I designed it to be tight so that the friction from the joint could hold it open, but the result of this was it sounded like someone dumped a bucket of water on a witch every time you opened it (not great for the movie theater). I added a little oil and it now is perfectly quiet, but the friction doesn't hold the mouth half open.
- The hat and eyes can be removed, they friction fit into their spots.
- I painted the color on the eyes and on the top hat with some simple acrylic paint.

This model was a lot of work... A silly amount really. I hope you enjoy it.

It is a work in progress, but I hope to provide more information about my models, and some tips if you want to create your own.
