Description
Hold 212 – Dual Cup Holder & Phone Holder by DSC Automotive
The Hold 212 is a custom-designed dual cup holder and phone holder originally developed by DSC Automotive and now released as part of my community program.
It was created to bring a cleaner, more practical and more modern solution into older vehicle interiors while keeping the design simple, functional and easy to print.
Features
The Hold 212 can hold two 500 ml cans or bottles with a cup opening diameter of approximately 72 mm.
On the top side, there is an integrated phone tray that allows you to place a standard-size iPhone horizontally. This turns the part into a combined cup holder and phone holder, making it especially useful for daily driving, road trips or clean interior setups.
Part Structure
The model consists of three separate parts:
- Main holder / housing
- Decorative trim piece
- Rear mounting / counter-screw support piece
For assembly, I recommend using:
- 2x threaded inserts
- 2x M3 screws
The M3 screws are used to secure the decorative trim piece to the main holder.
Printing Recommendation
For the best visual result, I recommend printing the model on two different build plates.
Example:
- Main holder on Build Plate A: Textured PEI Plate
- Decorative trim on Build Plate B: Smooth PEI Plate or another visual effect plate
This way, the surface contrast between the housing and the trim piece becomes part of the design and gives the finished part a much cleaner and more premium look.
AMS / Multi-Material Setup
The model is optimized for AMS users and works best with three filaments:
- PETG, preferably CF or GF reinforced, for the main housing
- White PETG for the DSC lettering
- PLA as support interface material for cleaner support removal and a better underside surface
Of course, you can use different colors depending on your own interior style or personal preference.
Material Notes
For automotive interior use, I recommend using a temperature-resistant material such as PETG, PETG-CF or PETG-GF for the main structural part.
PLA is only recommended as support interface material, not as the main material for the housing, especially if the part will stay inside a vehicle during warm weather.
