Model Introduction:

  • Sixth product in the mecha-style storage series: Number 0-6, an infinitely stackable, push-to-open drawer-style storage box with a self-locking rebound mechanism

  • Responding to requests from netizens, this series needed a stackable storage box, but merely being stackable wasn't interesting enough. The opening and closing of ordinary drawer-style storage boxes are too stiff, especially those 3D printed, making them not convenient enough. The push-to-open drawers and magnetic rebound cabinet doors in the author's home are the most frequently used and convenient furniture, so I tried to integrate these two structures into model 0-6. Furniture uses complete hardware, which is sturdy and durable with excellent rebound and self-locking effects. To achieve this effect as much as possible, the author tried many methods to implement it and finally determined the solution for model 0-6:

    I. After N versions (N>20 T﹏T) of modifications before release, the stability, reliability, and smooth feel of model 0-6 are already close to the author's home's push-to-open drawers and magnetic cabinet doors. The self-locking switch also has high stability when placed vertically, supporting ultra-high frequency opening and closing, and it features a detachable design, allowing maintenance and replacement of consumables like rubber bands (normal rubber bands last about 6 months to 1 year) to be completed in 2 minutes. (The reason rubber bands were chosen in the end is that 3D printed springs have very poor durability, and most people either don't have metal springs or don't have the correct specifications. Rubber bands are readily available to everyone, are not picky about specifications or sizes, can be easily adjusted in length to match the model, and have relatively good durability. As an open-source model author, I want to make it as easy as possible for more people who like this model to print and complete it.)

II. Stackable – This is a feature many friends requested in their messages: Model 0-6 can be infinitely stacked, and each layer can be smoothly opened and closed independently in the stacked state

III. Large Storage Space: Each layer has an internal space of 170MM x 152MM x 54MM, and the overall external dimensions are 205MM x 183MM x 71MM. Each layer can optionally be fitted with dividers as needed, and the inner box can also be removed, making it easier to find small items

Installation and Printing Instructions: (Please read the installation instructions in the attachment carefully, it contains solutions to all problems you might encounter!)

  • Installation requires glue, lubricant (not mandatory but recommended to improve the model's opening and closing effect), strong magnets 5X2MM, 4 pieces (per layer), rubber bands, 2 pieces (per layer) - It is recommended that the rubber band diameter be around 3CM, or you can cut any size rubber band you have and tie a knot. The rubber bands must be tight enough! Provide sufficient elasticity! Loose rubber bands should be tightened! Otherwise, they might not be able to push the drawer and overcome the magnetic suction!

  • Easy to print, optimized to require almost no supports. Pay attention to prevent warping and spaghetti. Please ensure your build plate has sufficient adhesion. Before printing, please clean the build plate (for textured plates, wipe with a sponge and dish soap for a few minutes to restore adhesion) or apply glue. Box-type models are large-bottom models, and using a low-temperature plate can effectively prevent bottom warping! A build plate with poor adhesion may lead to severe warping, even affecting model assembly and making it unusable!

  • Do not use low-strength filaments to print moving parts and bolts: such as special filaments like PLA Matte, PLA Silk, transparent, Lite (they are only suitable for printing shells and decorative parts). It is recommended to use PLA Basic and PETG Basic.

  • Default filaments: Bambu Lab PLA Basic Silver, Dark Grey, Light Grey, Warm Yellow, a total of 4 colors, feel free to customize your own color scheme

I specified 5×2 magnets, not 5×3......Too strong magnetism will affect smooth ejection.

Replying to @kkkkkkkkl :
4×2 mm is also acceptable; just ensure it’s glued centered and aligned inside the hole.

do you just print one of each plate?

You can remove unwanted text on the faceplate via the Boolean tool in Bambu Studio on PC, then type your custom text and use Boolean to merge it into the model.
