Flowing Fabric That Sounds Like Old TV, Fidget Toy
Print Profile(2)

Description
A fresh fabric fidget for you to play with. Flexible, bendy and sounds like an old TV (yup). I’m still surprised by how it worked out – because, of course, it was an accident. A very happy one, as the one could say ( ◕▿◕ )

Please watch the video below to see how the fabric is printed, how to prepare it for fidgeting and how flexy it is:
Idea behind the design
I’ve already created some 3d printed fabrics, from which my favourite was this Greek Inspired Chainmail Fabric – but I must say, I wasn’t completely happy with how flexible it was. It was fine when it was a small piece, but when I printed bigger versions, the flexibility wasn’t as good as it could be.
So I experimented a lot – I designed models, printed them, made adjustments, printed again, and so on. When the test print of the Flowing Fabric was done for the first time I was very pleased. I played with it for a few days, it wasn’t breaking, it felt really nice.
Sounds
The thing that really sold me on it was its sound. One day while chatting with my partner, he was playing with the test print somewhere near my ear and then I’ve heard it by accident for the first time: while rubbing the fabric against itself it made a sound very similar to how an old TV with a bad signal would make. I find this kind of static noise very relaxing to hear so it made my Flowing Fabric even better. To hear it: please rub the fabric against itself very close to ear, pressing hard on it and moving slowly.
Sizing
I’ve prepared 2 versions for you:
- 5x5 cm - a little test print for you to try if you’re not sure about how the fidget will turn out
- 15x15 cm - standard sized print - accurate also for A1 MINI printers
Printing tips
The model is build from many small parts attached to each other. Please wash and dry your plate before printing – use a soft sponge and dish soap. A clean surface helps this kind of models stick better and prevents early detachment.
A1 MINI compatible: yes
Printer tested on: Bambu Lab P1S
Hotend: 0.4 mm Stainless Steel
Additional tools: not needed
When done printing please share your opinion and photo, I'd love to know how you liked the model :) Also, if you like 3d printed jigsaws, fidgets and usefull fantasy accesories, take a look at my other projects - I'm sure you'll find something interesting there :)
