Description

A decorative maraca-style rattle featuring a tropical leaf pattern and wood-inspired details. The spherical top is split into two threaded halves that screw together, while the handle screws directly into the bottom section for easy assembly and printing.

Two versions are included:

  • Tropical Leaf Edition - Features the raised leaf pattern and textured details shown in the photos.
  • Plain Edition - A clean and minimalist version with a smooth surface. The decorative leaf texture and Fuzzy Skin effects have been removed, while the center band remains unchanged.

Safety Notice

If you are printing this for a child, I strongly recommend applying glue to all threaded connections during assembly.

Printing

The spherical top is printed in two separate pieces and assembled using the integrated threads.

The upper dome is designed to print without supports. There will be some visible overhang on the inside of the dome, but this is hidden after assembly and does not affect the finished appearance.

All other parts should be printed with supports.

To avoid manually painting every leaf in the slicer, modifiers are already included in the files.

The modifiers are pre-configured for a green color, making color setup quick and easy. Simply assign your preferred green filament to the modifier objects and slice.

Credits

The leaf texture, wood grain texture, and other surface details (except the Fuzzy Skin band) were created using BumpMesh by CNC Kitchen.

If you haven't checked it out already, I highly recommend giving it a try. It's an incredibly useful tool for adding detailed textures directly from images and height maps
And don't forget to support CNC Kitchen for creating such an awesome tool for the maker community!

What's Inside?

For the rattling sound, I used leftover printer poop inside the maraca. It's a fun way to recycle waste material from multi-color prints while giving the maraca a nice sound when shaken.

Feel free to experiment with different fillings if you'd like a different sound.

Assembly

  1. Print both spherical halves.
  2. Screw the top and bottom sphere sections together.
  3. Screw the handle into the threaded opening in the bottom half.
  4. Shake and enjoy!

Works great as a decorative piece, toy prop, nursery decoration, or simply as a fun multi-color print that showcases texture and color changes.
