Description

Safety Helmet Belt Clip

A small belt mounted hook for carrying a safety helmet hands free when you do not need to wear it all the time.

I designed this because at work we only need a safety helmet in certain areas. Most of the time we do not, so the usual options were all annoying: wear the helmet all day, leave it in the office and walk back later, carry it by hand, or risk entering a mandatory helmet area without having it with you.

This clip solves that problem in a very simple way.

How it works

The belt is routed through the clip and closed normally.
To stop the clip from sliding left and right, I added an opening for the trouser belt loop.

The belt route is:

  1. Through the clip
  2. Through the belt loop
  3. Back through the clip

This locks the clip in position on your waist and keeps it ready all day.

The helmet hangs loosely on the hook. The hook shape is designed to fit the headband of a standard safety helmet, so the helmet can sit comfortably on your side without occupying one of your hands.

Why TPU?

I printed mine in Bambu Lab TPU for AMS, and that is my recommended material.

TPU works well because it is stiff enough to hold a safety helmet, strong enough that it will not easily tear or snap, and flexible enough to survive bumps against doors, machines, tables, or other things on a work site.

A rigid material would probably work too, but for this use case TPU is the smarter choice. A hard plastic hook on your belt is just asking to crack or annoy you.

Features

  • Belt mounted helmet holder
  • Fixed position using your trouser belt loop
  • Designed for standard safety helmet headbands
  • Keeps your hands free
  • Lightweight, around 25 g
  • Compact size, around 4 cm wide and 4 cm high
  • Fast and easy print
  • Fuzzy skin texture for extra grip and a nicer surface feel
  • Flexible enough to handle daily work site use

Other possible uses

This is basically a compact belt hook, so it can also be useful for other lightweight items such as:

  • Gloves
  • Small bags
  • Ear protection
  • Safety glasses pouch
  • Work badges or small tool pouches

Do not overload it. It is designed as a practical helmet hanger, not as a heavy duty tool hook.

Print recommendation

Recommended material: TPU for AMS
Fuzzy skin: enabled
Supports: only if your slicer or print orientation requires them
Weight: around 25 g

Safety note

This is not certified PPE and does not replace any official safety equipment or workplace rules. It is only a carrying clip for keeping your helmet with you when you are not wearing it.
