Here is a link to a video explaining the concept of this build: https://canva.link/ne6xu4ykez367y4
Many projects in the hobby and education sectors still fail at the question of how to reliably create precise 3D models without expensive specialized equipment. This is exactly the challenge that “EasyScan” addresses. “EasyScan” delivers high accuracy in 3D scanning.
To ensure the scanning process runs as smoothly and precisely as possible, "EasyScan" is a device that automatically moves a smartphone around the object to be captured. The system combines three movements: a vertical camera lift, rotation of the object itself, and a dome-shaped orbit — all driven by a worm gear. This precise motion path optimizes the results of standard photogrammetry and Gaussian Splatting apps.
Please note that this still is a Beta version, but has been tested thoroughly. This is a survey, if you want to help me out with improving the design a bit: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeJ9agsD5UWrSQlrWIQQks6r-7ydXJOd8gayuAqnfPV7tW52w/viewform?usp=header.
There is a PDF file explaining the assembly-process. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me directly! Please also reach out if you realize a certain part is missing or does not seem to work properly. Note that this is a Beta Version, so there is assembling required.
Parts needed:
• Filament (I used standard PLA / depending on infill you’ll need around 800g of
filament)
• Arduino Uno
• 2 - 3 NEMA 17 Pancake Stepper Motors (the exact amount depends on the axis you want motorized ☺)
• 2 to 3 Stepper Motor Drivers A4988
• 4 - 5 buttons (same reason as with motors ☺)
• Preferred Power source for the stepper motors (12V / 3A {or higher})
• Preferred Power source for the Arduino Uno (5V)
• 2 electrolytic capacitors 470 uF 16V
• 3 ceramic capacitors 101
• 4 M3 screws corresponding nuts (preferred length >= 8mm)
• 3 - 5 Wheel ball bearings (usually used with 3D-printers)

kompatibel/dp/B08PF1Y59T)
• About 70 cm of a stick (I used wood) with a 2.5 mm radius
• A small piece of felt or other material which ensures a smooth rotation
• (alternatively: use a DC – DC converter to avoid two power sources)
• Based on execution:
- Jumper wires
- Breadboard
