Description
MossDock – Modular Self-watering Moss Pole for Screw-Top Jars
A modular, self-watering moss pole with an integrated water reservoir that can be screwed directly onto screw-top jars.
Transform any screw-top jar into a space-saving and functional climbing system for your plants.
MossDock is a modular moss pole that can be screwed directly onto compatible canning and screw-top jars (TO82). The system combines plant support, water storage, and self-watering in a compact solution, perfect for cuttings, young plants, and climbing houseplants.
Modular Plug-in System
The moss pole consists of several segments and can be extended at any time. As your plant grows, simply print additional elements and plug them in.
Suitable for Screw-Top Jars
The base screws directly onto a suitable jar (TO82). This allows existing canning or storage jars to be repurposed and transformed into a practical plant pot.
Integrated Self-Watering
Two channels for cotton wicks are integrated into the system.
The cotton wicks extend from the water reservoir in the jar into the moss pole and transport moisture upwards through capillary action. This keeps the moss moist longer and provides optimal conditions for the plant's aerial roots.
Advantages:
- More even moisture supply
- Less frequent refilling
- Slower drying of the moss
- Promotes root growth
Bottom Watering
An integrated watering channel is located at the front.
Through this, water can be filled directly into the reservoir without saturating the substrate from above. The water thus reaches exactly where it is needed.
This means:
- the substrate is not disturbed
- the plant is not bothered
- the risk of waterlogging in the upper area is reduced
- refilling is much easier
Water Level Always Visible
In combination with a transparent jar, the water level can be checked at any time. This allows you to immediately see when refilling is needed.
Suitable for
- Pothos (Pothos / Epipremnum)
- Monstera Adansonii
- Philodendron species
- Syngonium
- Scindapsus
- Other climbing and vining houseplants
Mounting System
- Print all necessary parts.
- Thread two cotton wicks through the designated channels.
- Fill the moss pole with sphagnum moss or a substrate of your choice.
- Screw the base onto a suitable screw-top jar, but do not overtighten.
- Fill the water reservoir via the watering channel.
- Attach the plant to the moss pole as it grows.
Why MossDock?
Traditional moss poles merely serve as climbing aids. MossDock, however, combines several functions in a single system: climbing aid, water reservoir, self-watering, and upcycling of glass containers.
The result is a space-saving, sustainable, and expandable solution for modern houseplants.
