THE MODEL :
Infuse a mysterious and highly original atmosphere into your living space with this strikingly realistic wall sculpture. This three-dimensional model depicts a bat hanging upside down, elegantly enveloped in the natural drapery of its own folded wings. The piece tells the story of a nocturnal guardian frozen in deep, peaceful sleep, bringing a touch of dark poetry and mystic naturalism to your room. Its sleek yet richly textured design fits perfectly into a modern Gothic setup, an urban jungle plant display, or at the heart of a trendy cabinet of curiosities.
Tested Print Settings (Recommendations): The slender silhouette and delicate folds of the wing membranes were successfully verified using matte black PLA.
- Infill: Set at 5% for the wall display model. Slicing Pro-Tip: Since the object hangs vertically from a single mounting point, a low infill rate is ideal to keep the piece lightweight and easy to mount on your wall. However, we suggest using 3 wall loops (perimeters) to ensure perfect material opacity throughout the smooth wing surfaces.
- Nozzle: 0.4 mm
- Supports: Light supports are recommended around the snout and pointed ears depending on your flat layout position on the build plate.
Sizing Information: The model is scaled to create an impressive, lifelike trompe-l'œil effect on any wall surface or pillar. Please feel free to freely resize the model based on your desired use inside your slicing software to perfectly match your specific interior layout or to downscale it into a smaller decorative charm.
INFORMATION:
A common question is: why do these prints require supports when they could be printed lying flat?
For my designs, I deliberately choose to print them standing upright rather than flat, in order to achieve the best possible level of detail. I prioritize visual quality over saving a few grams of filament.
Of course, you are free to change the print orientation in your slicer if you prefer.
