Description

This is a small jig that slips onto one end of a flat stock bar and between the jaws of a K02-50 50mm 4-jaw chuck. It has a tailstock holder that fits an M14-1 thread as found on the Carvera 4th axis accessory. It holds the stock centered between the jaws of the chuck (approximately, there is .2mm clearance) so that it is symmetrical about the center of the 4th axis X-axis.

I am including the size for a common aluminum flat bar, 25x6mm, but you must customize it to the size of your stock unless you happen to have that exact size. The dimensions are included as text on the chuck stop, but not yet on the tail stock portion.

Unfortunately to get two different objects I have had to split the F3D/customization into two separate files, one for the chuck and one for the tail stock.

There are more parameters exposed than there should be, but mostly you'll care about three:

stock height, stock width – these are the dimensions of the stock.

base_depth - this is the thickness of the “chuck stop” base of the jig: how far it pushes your stock out from the face of the chuck.

You may also be interested in stock vertical clearance and stock horizontal clearance. I have these set to .2mm, which is a snug fit in PLA, but you may need to adjust them for other materials.
