Description

Replacement wheel - VINGLI pool cover reel

The plastic wheels on the VINGLI pool cover reel are notorious for crumbling and cracking after a season or two of UV and chemical exposure. This is a replacement wheel printed in ASA, a UV- and weather-resistant material chosen specifically so history doesn't repeat itself.

The inner diameter of the hub bore and the length of the hub along the axle are dimensioned to match the original. Note that the outer diameter of the wheel is modeled from scratch - both of my original wheels had already disintegrated before I thought to measure them - so you may find it differs slightly from the factory part. It rolls and functions correctly; it just may not be a perfect cosmetic match.

This model is for the small wheel(s) that roll on the ground, not the big “wheel” that is turned by hand to roll/unroll the pool cover.

INSTALLATION

  • Keep the original retaining hub - this is the small cap with inward-facing teeth that locks onto the axle when tapped into place. It is reused to secure the new wheel and is not included in this print.
  • Slide the new wheel onto the axle, then tap the original retaining hub back on as it was.

MATERIAL

Print this in ASA. Print settings are included in the 3MF file.

PETG is a fallback option but will degrade faster under direct sun. PLA is not suitable — it will not survive the poolside environment.
