Description
DoRa LAMP
Nihon Lights Collection
This is the first piece of the Nihon Lights Collection.
Concept
Inspired by Japanese culture, both the name and the form recall the Dorayaki, the traditional Japanese sweet loved by Doraemon and Nobita, the main characters of the cartoon that accompanied my childhood.
The word dora also refers to the traditional circular metal percussion instrument used in Buddhist temples and Japanese traditional music, also known as a gong.
The lamp reinterprets this form through a disc-shaped lampshade designed to diffuse a soft, ambient light. It features a continuous cut along the rim, intended to promote proper airflow and help cool the interior.
