Beach Buddy Koozie

Bill of Materials
Description
This is the Beach Buddy Koozie. When you need to slow down and take a beat on the sand or in the surf, this insulated can cooler is your go-to beverage holder. Designed to invoke the bright, classic look of beach toys, this model isn't just aesthetic; it’s specifically engineered for harsh outdoor environments.
Engineered Features
- Drop-Tested Durability: Custom height-range modifiers increase wall and infill density for the bottom 15mm to easily handle drops on hard surfaces.
- Hardware-Free Assembly: Custom snap caps and hinge pins mean absolutely zero screws, metal pins, or glue are required.
- Zero Supports: Meticulously modeled with optimized overhangs and dialed-in tolerancing for a flawless, ready-to-use print right off the build plate.
- Secret Storage: Features a hidden storage compartment under the can for an AirTag or for keeping rings/change safe while you swim.
- Thermal Protection: Engineered with 5-10mm of internal air-gap insulation to keep drinks cold in the direct sun.
Unique Spring Retainers: Cans held in place by unique can retention springs - not too hard to insert, but won't just fall out when you drink.

Print Profiles & Materials
- Several profiles are available: 12oz (355ml) Slim Can, 12oz (355ml) Standard Can, 16oz (473ml) Tallboy Can.
Designer's Note: Because this is built for the heat, I highly recommend using a durable, UV and heat-resistant material like PETG or ASA to prevent warping in the sun. While the PLA profiles are fine for the beach, because standard PLA has a low heat deflection temperature (~55-60°C or ~131-149°F), a PLA koozie may warp if left inside a hot car during summer conditions.

Assembly
The handle build plate includes flush caps to fill the mounting holes if you prefer a sleek, handle-less cup holder. Lanyard strap attachments are also available. Assembly is straightforward:
- Put the top and bottom together without hardware.
- Insert the hinge pin through and secure it with the two included snap-on caps.
- For handle assembly, snap the handle insert through the holes in the handle.
Press the handle inserts into the holes in the bottom until you feel a snap.

2026-06-08 v1.1 Update: Updated print profiles to include a lanyard attachment plate. Also increased the diameter of the handle attachment pins to increase pullout force and increased hole diameter of handles to ensure clean insertion. Additionally, I tweaked bottom design and height modifier to further increase drop strength.

2026-06-12 v1.2 Update: Added PLA print profiles with an additional bottom shell layer and an extra wall over the first 15mm of the top and bottom parts. Also reworked retention springs to increase durability for PLA profiles. All previously printed parts compatible.
