Always appreciated, never expected. Thank you!

A space-themed collection of 3D printed spinning tops designed for hands-on play.

Space Cadet Tops includes four unique, snap-together tops: UFO, Comet, Star, and Rocket. Each one has its own shape, color style, and spin personality while staying simple, playful, and kid-friendly.

This set was designed for the Children’s Toy Design Contest with a focus on motion, interaction, bright colors, and rounded geometry. No batteries. No screens. Just print, snap together, and spin.

Included Tops

UFO
A clean flying saucer top with textured white upper and lower domes and a classic space toy look.

Comet
A blue and orange top with concentric comet rings and a rippled edge that creates a fun motion effect while spinning.

Star
A bright, colorful top with rounded star points and bold color zones that pop as it spins.

Rocket
A rocket-inspired top with a low stable body, a rounded nose, and integrated fin details.

Why I Designed It

I wanted to create a toy set that feels simple, classic, and fun to actually play with. Spinning tops are easy to understand, but the space theme gives each one a little personality. Kids can compare how each top spins, which one lasts longest, which one wobbles the most, and which color pattern looks best in motion.

The tops are designed as snap-together pieces so you can mix colors and create different looks. Use bright colors for a toy-like feel, or try silk and dual color filaments for a more dramatic spin effect. For best results, make sure the parts are fully seated after assembly before spinning.

A snug support is printed in the snap fit gap. It will need to be removed and should come out very easily. You may find the corner of your Bambu scraper works exceptionally well to remove the support.

Safety Note

Designed with rounded shapes and no sharp points. As with any 3D printed toy, adult supervision is recommended, especially for younger children. Inspect prints for sharp edges, weak layer adhesion, or loose parts before play.
