I was simply tired of these annoying cartridge filters. I didn't necessarily want to switch to sand filters, as the "normal" filter pumps work well on their own; especially for smaller pools, they are completely sufficient. So I thought I'd simply solve the problem myself using CAD and a 3D Printer

The result, for now, is a filter basket in size IV, intended for the larger filter pumps. The basket's dimensions exactly match an original cartridge filter. Inside, there's enough space for the filter balls (see photos). The final height is 25.4cm, which corresponds to the maximum for many printers. Since my A1 often has issues with prints over 20cm in height, I decided to split the model into 3 parts. This also makes it A1 mini compatible

The "lid" in the middle could generally be omitted, but I wanted to create the possibility to fill each half well with filter balls and then compress them slightly with gentle pressure. Since the water flows from the outside inwards, the lid should not present any significant barrier

Due to all the holes, this part naturally has an incredible number of outer walls, resulting in quite long print times at 0.2mm layer height. I am providing the model with my settings – feel free to increase the layer height and/or print speed, for example (at your own risk, of course 😉)

I would of course be very happy about pictures and ratings!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

PS: I think size IV is a bit exotic because it's very large. I am currently still working on a filter ball basket in size III. That should be ready soon, and I will of course then publish it on MakerWorld
