The Panzer IV Ausf. F1/F2 were important mid-war developments of the German Panzer IV series. The F1 retained the short-barreled 75 mm gun mainly for infantry support, while also featuring thicker frontal armor and wider tracks than earlier versions. The F2 (later renamed to G in July 1942 ) introduced the long-barreled 75 mm KwK40 gun, giving the Panzer IV effective anti-tank capability and forming the basis for later Ausf. G/H variants. Visually, the F1 is recognized by its short gun barrel, whereas the F2 features a much longer gun with a muzzle brake.

四號坦克F1/F2型是德国二战中期的重要改进型号. F1型仍装备短身管75mm火炮, 主要用于步兵支援; 相比之前型号, F1加强了正面装甲并加宽履带. F2型(1942年7月被重命名为G型)则首次换装长身管75mm KwK40火炮, 使四號坦克真正具备了优秀的反坦克能力, 并成为后续G/H型发展的基础. 外观上, F1最大的特征是短炮管, 而F2则拥有明显更长的主炮和炮口制退器.
