Description

I liked my ZSUS 14” 15:10 (3:2?) display - excellent scaling and colour accuracy, weak (authentic!) speakers - but I didn’t like the cables hanging out of the side, dragging it off the “heavy duty steel tablet stand” I’d bought for it that was not heavy-duty and didn’t like sitting straight-on.

I settled down with DesignSpark Mechanical for a few hours and created a housing with two halves that the display slides into, and separate feet to allow those to be changed for a different height/angle, while also keeping the large parts within the 256x256 area of my P2S.

Even so, the two halves took 16 hours to print - each!

I’m happy with the result. It would be a closer match if it were more translucent. It is now easy to set up or pack away without getting fingerprints/handprints on the glass. The housing disguises the display’s bezel being wider at the bottom than the top. It has made the display feel bigger, probably because it’s now high enough to be used from a comfortable seated position without the keyboard reflecting in the display’s glass front. The large hole on the right side of the casing is to allow a menu toggle switch to be reached easily. The notches in the back tidy the cables.

The two halves are joined by six M3x20 screws (hard to reach with Allen keys) and heat-set brass threaded inserts. The join between the two halves (pictured) is tight. The feet use a further two M3x20 screws each (10 in total), although you can use longer screws for the feet if you've run out of 20s.

The right-angle Mini HDMI cable is this one ('Left' option chosen): https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008161684861.html

Of course, the Commodore 64 Ultimate can be purchased from commodore.net :)
