Explore the secrets of the Great Pyramid of Giza with this detailed cross-section display, revealing the intricate chambers that have fascinated humanity for millennia.
What Lies Within?
While traditionally understood as a grand tomb for Pharaoh Khufu, the Great Pyramid remains an enigma. Beyond the famous King’s Chamber—home to the enigmatic red granite sarcophagus—and the Queen’s Chamber, the pyramid contains the breathtaking, corbelled-roof Grand Gallery.
Hidden shafts, mysterious voids discovered via muon tomography, and an unfinished Subterranean Chamber carved deep into the bedrock all point to a level of engineering sophistication that continues to challenge our understanding of the Old Kingdom. Are these voids hidden burial sites, or part of a larger, lost architectural plan?
A New Discovery Beneath the Sands
Recent, cutting-edge research using satellite imaging and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) has suggested the existence of an extensive, deeper subterranean complex beneath the Giza Plateau. Reports indicate potential anomalies, including vertical shafts and structured, geometric patterns reaching deep into the bedrock beneath the major pyramids. While these findings have sparked intense debate among archaeologists regarding their nature and origin, they offer a tantalizing glimpse into what may still be hidden beneath our feet.
Inspired by these findings, I have designed a model of the subterranean structures that some researchers believe may be part of this deep network, featuring complex pillars with coiled sections and block-like bases.

Versatility & Remixing
This model is a fantastic base for various projects beyond a simple desk display:
- Educational Dioramas: Scale it up and add lighting effects inside the chambers to highlight the internal layout for history projects.
- Architectural Art: Perfect for painting and weathering to create a "ruined" or "excavation-site" aesthetic.
- Functional Storage: With minor modifications in CAD, the internal chambers can be hollowed out further to serve as unique, hidden trinket boxes or desk organizers.
Printing Notes
- Recommended Filament: To capture the fine details of the stone textures and the technical nature of these models, I highly recommend using SUNLU PLA+ in Bronze or Gold. It provides the perfect blend of structural integrity and aesthetic finish for historical models.
