I found that other sand sifter designs had smaller handles along with smaller sifting holes that did not meet my needs. The small holes and spacing required longer print times and were not as strong of a sifting mesh.

 

I designed this sifter to work not only as a shovel but also a initial sifter of water and smaller debris while searching for shark teeth and seashells at the beach. I have used this sifter all week at the beach with great success. I used PETG filament to print and requires no supports.

 

Print Profile:

  • SeashellSifter_PETG
    • Plate 100%:
      • Measures 160 mm x 150 mm x 226 mm (thickness of 3mm)
      • Inner Handle Length: 100 mm 
      • Hole Slot Size: 4 mm x 15 mm (8mm spacing between slots)
    • Plate 90%:
      • Scaled down to 90% of the Plate 100%
    • Plate 80%:
      • Scaled down to 80% of the Plate 100%
