Bring a touch of Norse mythology to your desk, gaming setup, bar, or display shelf with the Viking’s Rest Horn Mug & Stand. Inspired by traditional Viking drinking horns and engraved with Norse-style symbols, this model is designed as both a functional drink holder and a decorative display piece.
The horn features a detailed rune-style rim, engraved Vegvísir-inspired artwork, and a separate horn tip for easier printing and cleaner finishing. The included stand keeps the horn secure while adding to the overall Nordic aesthetic.
This set includes:

The horn itself includes a flat base, however due to the weight distribution it is not designed to reliably hold a full drink upright on its own. The included stand is recommended for display and practical use.

Printing Notes
- Multi-part design for easier printing and finishing
- I used super glue to attach the rim and horn tip
- Stand can be printed separately in contrasting colours
- Looks great with metallic dry brushing or weathered paint finishes
Print Settings Used
I printed my model at:
- 0.28 layer height
- 5% sparse infill
This was mainly to reduce print time while still achieving a solid result.
If you want cleaner detail and a smoother overall finish, feel free to print at:
- 0.16 layer height
- 10% infill
Especially around the Norse engravings and decorative details, the lower layer height gives a much sharper final look.
Finishing & Paint Effect
For the aged gold effect, I used:
- Black PLA as the base colour
- Rub n Buff to create the metallic aged gold finish
This works especially well on the engraved Norse details and gives the model a much more realistic Viking-inspired appearance.
Suggested Colours
- Bone white / ivory for the horn
- Gold, bronze, or aged brass for accents
- Black, wood, or metallic finishes for the stand
