Description

This is my take on a MagicBand+ travel case and holder/charger.

The Charging Dock

The current design holds three magic bands but can be extended to hold more or shortened to hold less. The holder allows the MagicBand+ charger to be inserted into the frame, but the band itself fully secures the charger to the frame. To supply power, each charger is plugged into a small form factor USB type A hub, but you can use whatever hub you please as long as it fits in the middle cavity. The design includes feedback from others' designs by including end caps with chord holes that make the overall design cleaner.

To attach the band to the dock first insert the longer strap of the band into the slot below the charger and ensure the strap goes through the slot on the back side of the dock. At this point you can snap the band into the charger then snap the straps together on the back side of the dock.

The Travel Shell

The shell is slightly larger than the dock alone to accommodate both end caps. I've found there is plenty of space in the middle cavity of the dock to store any charging accessories, band charms, etc. while the holder is in the travel shell. To insert the dock into the shell first store the charger and accessories in the middle and replace the caps on the dock. With the bands secured to the dock, slide the bottom of the dock into the slot in the shell. This can be seen in a couple images above. Then close the shell using the shell lid of your choice. There are two different shell lid designs included with the model. The first is just a blank lid and the second has a wand and stars on it, which is pictured above and does require an AMS.

Notes

  1. I printed this at 0.2mm layer height at standard quality and a 0.4mm nozzle. The lid snapping mechanism may vary depending on print quality.
  2. The only part that needs supports is the dock. While the supports are minimal and somewhat easy to remove, I wouldn't recommend tree supports for this print.
  3. Filaments used
    1. Flashforge Burnt Titanium PLA
    2. Bambu Labs Black PLA
    3. eSUN Matte Milky White PLA
  4. Feel free to add your own designs to the models and add them as a print profile.
  5. If you would like me to add different sizes or file type, leave a comment or like a comment which has already requested it. It may take a little bit to complete as I am a college student.
  6. If you like the design, please like the post the support is appreciated. Thanks!
