Norwich Terrier Bust

This Norwich Terrier bust captures the bold, spirited character of one of the smallest working terriers. The piece emphasises the breed’s compact strength, keen expression, and distinctive prick ears.

The head is well-proportioned with a slightly rounded skull and strong, fox-like muzzle. The modelling around the brow and eye conveys alert intelligence and characteristic terrier determination. The eye is small, dark, and expressive, set to project confidence without harshness. Subtle definition around the cheek and jaw reinforces the breed’s surprisingly powerful bite for its size.

The erect, pointed ears are a defining feature and are sculpted with crisp edges and correct proportion. Their upright carriage gives the bust immediate presence and reinforces the breed’s ever-watchful temperament. The ear set also creates strong vertical structure within the composition, balancing the broader planes of the muzzle and neck.

Textural detailing is thoughtfully rendered to suggest the Norwich Terrier’s hard, wiry coat. Layered strokes across the muzzle and cheeks imply facial furnishings without overworking the form. The neck and chest transition into denser coat texture, adding volume while maintaining the breed’s sturdy, compact outline.

The bronze-style finish enhances depth and definition. Dark patina settles into the recesses of the coat and facial contours, while warm highlights accent the raised textures of the ears, muzzle, and coat layers. This interplay of light and shadow strengthens the sculptural detail and gives the piece a timeless, heirloom quality.

The stepped circular plinth with cracked stone detailing provides a solid architectural foundation, complementing the terrier’s grounded strength and working heritage.

The Norwich Terrier Bust stands as a tribute to courage, vitality, and compact power—an elegant sculptural study of a small dog with a truly big personality.
