Description

Prepare for the most fun ultimate mechanism assembly project! This took years of perfecting the design and making it repeatable, with multiple units built to iron out quality issues that arose from the nature of the challenge of making precision mechanisms with 3d printed parts.

Summary:

A fully mechanical clock with a completely original design for all mechanism components. Uniquely engineered with a background of aerospace engineering approaches to design philosophy, it includes a simple precision pendulum escapement and custom involute gear train with separate hour, minute, and second hand faces designed to fully display the mechanical beauty of the mechanism that makes it function.

Depending on the height at which it is mounted on your wall, it will run for 3 to 4 days before needing a rewinding, easily done in seconds with the included crank and embedded ratcheting mechanism. With the pendulum properly & continuously tuned, it can stay accurate within the minute, over a span of several days or even weeks.

The square board is 2 ft. x 2 ft., with a 3 ft. long pendulum. It is very large, designed to be an art piece that is fully functional. Its size alone created many design challenges, which ultimately limited its running duration before rewinding; but I decided it was worth the sacrifice just to see it work and appreciate the beauty of mechanical engineering.
