Description
This design is a modern interpretation of a classic Tengrist shaman drum motif.
In Tengrist tradition, the shaman drum serves as a cosmic map and spiritual tool.
Central symbols in the design:
- The World Pillar / World Tree (Axis Mundi): The large vertical structure in the center connects the three worlds – Underworld, Middleworld (our world) and Upperworld (Heaven). It is the heart of Tengrist cosmology.
- Sun / Sky Circle: At the top center stands the radiant sun as one of Tengri's (the sky god's) eyes. It symbolizes light, life, fire, and divine energy.
- Animal Spirits: The depicted animals (deer, birds, fish, among others) represent spirit helpers and totems. In Tengrist shamanic tradition, these animals assist the shaman in traveling between worlds.
- Mountains & Landscape: The wavy lines and triangles symbolize the sacred mountains and the steppe – the connected nature in which everything is ensouled.
- Halo: The outer jagged edge recalls the radiant power of the sky and the drum itself, which serves as a portal.
The entire motif embodies the unity of sky, earth, and underworld, as well as humanity's deep connection with nature and spirits.
