Description

Porsche 911 GT3 RS – Fully 3D Printed 130% Scale Build 🚗🔥

This project is a fully 3D printed version of the legendary Porsche 911 GT3 RS, inspired by the iconic LEGOS Porsche 911 GT3 RS design philosophy — but recreated entirely through 3D printing.

Every single part of this model was individually recreated, printed and assembled from scratch. Instead of using original LEGOS elements, all components were custom made and 3D printed, resulting in a massive and highly detailed engineering-style build with approximately 350 individual parts.

Scaled up to 130%, the final model reaches an impressive size of approximately:

  • Length: 23 cm
  • Width: 10 cm
  • Height: 6 cm

The enlarged scale gives the car a much more aggressive and premium display presence while making the individual details stand out far more clearly than on smaller builds.

Features ✨

  • Fully 3D printed construction
  • Around 350 individual parts
  • Large 130% scale build
  • Adjustable rear wing/spoiler
  • Highly detailed exterior
  • Inspired by the original GT3 RS design
  • Clean display appearance
  • Designed for PLA printing
  • Modular assembly process

Custom Color Configuration 🎨

The color configuration used in this build differs slightly from the original version and demonstrates how customizable the project can be.

For this specific build:

  • Transparent black pieces were printed in solid black
  • Clear transparent pieces were printed in white
  • Yellow parts were replaced with blue accents
  • The Axle pieces printed in blue

This allows builders to freely experiment with completely different visual styles and create their own unique interpretation of the GT3 RS.

Different filament combinations can completely transform the look of the model — from realistic factory-inspired builds to aggressive custom race-style variants.

Printing Information 🖨️

The entire model was printed using PLA filament.

Only a small amount of supports is required depending on print orientation and printer calibration, making the project relatively approachable despite the large number of parts.

A pre-configured 3MF file is included, meaning optimized print settings are already prepared for easier printing and assembly.

Because the build contains approximately 350 components, organizing parts during the printing process is highly recommended and will make assembly significantly easier.

Assembly 🔧

Despite the high part count, the assembly process is extremely satisfying and rewarding. Watching hundreds of individual printed pieces slowly come together into a complete GT3 RS creates a very unique building experience.

Assembly difficulty: Medium

Estimated assembly time: ~1.5 hours

Recommended tools:

  • Tweezers
  • Glue

Glue is recommended for the best structural stability and long-term durability of the final model.

For this build, UHU all-purpose glue was used successfully.

No additional hardware is required:

  • No screws
  • No magnets
  • No metal rods
  • No bearings

Everything is fully printable.

Design Philosophy 🏁

The goal of this project was to recreate the feeling of a large-scale Technic-style supercar entirely through 3D printing while maintaining the instantly recognizable proportions and styling of the GT3 RS.

Rather than relying on existing parts, the project focuses on creating a complete printed building experience from the ground up.

The larger 130% scale helps emphasize the bodywork, proportions and visual details while giving the finished car an impressive shelf presence.

Important Notes ⚠️

  • This is a large multi-part project
  • Proper organization of parts is recommended
  • Some cleanup may be required depending on printer tolerances
  • Glue is recommended for optimal rigidity
  • PLA is recommended for the easiest printing experience

Final Result 🚀

The finished model works perfectly as:

  • a display piece
  • a collector build
  • a shelf centerpiece
  • a desk showcase
  • or simply a fun and rewarding engineering-style printing project

The combination of large scale, custom printed parts, assembly and customization possibilities makes this an incredibly enjoyable project from start to finish.

Feel free to experiment with your own color combinations and modifications to create a completely unique version of the GT3 RS 🔥

Enjoy printing and building! 🚗💨
