Description

I designed this cover for an outdoor dual wall socket that sits below a pool cover. When the pool cover is rolled up, water can drip down near the sockets, so I wanted a simple protective awning that helps keep water away from the outlet area.

The design has an angled top so water can run off more easily instead of sitting on the cover. The sides are also covered to help protect the sockets from angled rain or dripping water. I used rounded corners so water is guided downward more naturally and to avoid sharp edges.

This is not meant to replace a proper waterproof outdoor electrical box or IP-rated socket. It is an extra protective cover/awning for situations where water drips from above.

Print settings

  • Material: PETG, ABS, or ASA recommended for outdoor use
  • Supports: No supports needed
  • Wall loops: 2 works fine
  • Recommended rigid version: 4 wall loops for extra strength
  • Tradeoff: 4 walls will use more filament and increase print time
  • Orientation: Print with the back flat on the build plate
  • Infill: 15% should be enough for most use cases

Dimensions

  • Full width: 200 mm / 7.87 in
  • Inside width: 170 mm / 6.69 in
  • Height: 150 mm / 5.91 in
  • Depth / awning overhang: 100 mm / 3.94 in

Mounting

There are 2 models, one without holes and one that includes 4 countersunk mounting holes.

  • Number of mounting holes: 4
  • Screw shaft diameter: 3 mm / 0.12 in
  • Countersunk screw head diameter: 7 mm / 0.28 in

Installation notes

Mount it above or around the wall socket so the angled awning points downward and away from the outlet. Make sure there is enough room for plugs and cables to exit without being pinched.

For outdoor electrical use, always use a properly rated outdoor socket, GFCI/RCD protection where required, and safe installation practices.
