Description

Bee House

This model is designed as a safe nesting home for solitary bees.

The print consists of two profiles:

  • Main body — printed in vase mode for fast and efficient printing
  • Secondary profile — contains the mounting brackets and decorative sign
    • No AMS required, just add pause for the sign and swap filament manually.

For the nesting tubes, use paper straws with diameters of 6 mm, 7 mm, and 8 mm to support a wider variety of bee species.

Assembly & Installation

  • Use 20 mm long paper straws or cut longer ones to size
  • Do not use longer straws — the frame is designed to protect the openings from rain and predators
  • Bees also generally prefer shorter nesting tunnels around this length
  • Fill the body tightly with straws so they cannot fall out
  • Glue the sign onto the main body after printing
  • Mount the bee house at a slight downward angle to prevent water from entering
  • Rotate the straw openings toward the south for the best sun exposure

This design helps create a safer and more natural shelter for pollinators in your garden.
